Fiji is a bay gelding, born April 14, 2008, by Florencio I out of Nelinora (by Climax). He was bred on the Van Esch family farm and trained to Grand Prix by Petra van Esch.
His sire, Florencio I, holds the KWPN's preferent title. His dam, Nelinora, whom Petra herself competed through Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I, produced three full brothers who all competed internationally: Fido Dido, Fiji and Fifty Fifty. Ayia Napa is a half-sister.
Petra and Fiji showed at international Small Tour in Neumünster and Hagen in 2017 and 2018, then made their international Grand Prix debut at Randbøl, Denmark, in 2019. In 2020 he placed second in the Grand Prix at the Wezep subtop show with 69.022% and seventh in the national Grand Prix at Mannheim. Fiji was the fifth horse Petra brought to Grand Prix.
Fiji has been sold and is not for sale. In November 2020 he moved to Japan, where he continues his competition career.
