Riona

Riona is a bay KWPN mare, born June 14, 2021, by Intro K out of Utah (by Gribaldi). Bred by H. Bax in Luyksgestel, she stands a full 17.1 hands (1.75 m). In July 2026, ridden by Hendrik van Esch, she placed thirteenth at L1 (roughly First Level) at the Brabant provincial championships, her first season out.

Her sire, Intro K (Apache x Rousseau), was approved by the KWPN in 2016 and competed at Small Tour with Femke de Laat. Through Intro K, Riona is a granddaughter of Apache, the sire of Ayia Napa.

Her dam, Utah (ster), is by Gribaldi, the sire of Totilas, out of Fleur (by Naturel), a mare who holds the KWPN's keur, preferent and prestatie predicates. In studbook terms, those are the marks for conformation and movement, proven offspring, and proven performance.
